Improving Your Credit Score
When you have poor credit and a low credit score, it is often next to impossible to obtain any type of new credit. If you ARE lucky enough to get approval, chances are that your interest rate (finance charges) will be very high and your credit limits much lower than you hoped.
However, there are things that you can do that will be instrumental in raising your credit score. It won’t happy overnight, unfortunately. But, with a bit of determination you will begin to notice positive change.
If you have only had credit, for a short time, don’t apply for new credit cards in effort to increase your overall credit limit. This will only lower your score. It is better to try to pay off your debt, as opposed to moving it around to other credit cards.
As difficult as it may be… ALWAYS try to pay your credit card bills on time. (Even if it means cutting back on other expenses.) If you are behind, it is imperative that you get current, as soon as possible. Doing so will slowly improve your credit score.
If you find that you are having difficulties paying your bills, contact a reputable credit counseling company for assistance.
